Pauline B. Baker

BLUEFIELD - Pauline B. Baker, 84, of 1305 Liberty Street, Bluefield, died Saturday Dec. 13, 2003 at a Bluefield hospital.

Born Sept. 13, 1919 in Princeton, she was a daughter of the late Mathias and Minnie Reed Burton. She attended National Business College in Roanoke, Va., and worked in bookkeeping for a retail merchant prior to her marriage. She was a member of Bland Street United Methodist Church where she served as circle chairman for many years. Pauline was an avid golfer and a former member of Bluefield Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Victor D. Baker; a son, Charles Edward Baker; a sister, Elnora Bailey; three brothers, Mason Burton, Howard Burton and Everett Burton; and 2 half sisters.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara B. Grisinger of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Dr. James W. Baker of Lexington, Ky., grandchildren, Kari Grisinger Ramsey of Loganville, Ga., Gordon Grisinger III of Boston, Mass., Stephanie Grisinger of Duluth, Ga., James (Jay) W. Baker II, Jacqueline Baker, Janet Baker of Lexington, and Jeanne McDaniel of Atlanta, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Devon and Nathan Baker, both of Lexington.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home & Crematory of Bluefield with the Rev. Warren G. Faulknier officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Princeton.

Friends and family members will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.
